and by the time the second changes
she has already
gotten out of bed
stretched
and opened the window wide to let the morning in

and by the time the minute changes
she has already
brushed her teeth
combed her hair
and found the perfect outfit

and by the time the hour changes
she has already
gone outside
smiled at a few strangers
done a bit of work
and relaxed for a little while

and by the time the day changes
she has already
re-lived her life so far
understood some more of herself
and found a little room to grow

and by the time the week changes
she has already
come up with a solution to world hunger
found a cure for cancer
and one for the common cold

and by the time the month changes
she has already
died.

the spare hour

she knows how to laugh, and knows how to teach someone to laugh.
she knows how to dream, and knows how to teach someone to dream.
she knows how to love, and knows how to teach someone to love.

what she doesn`t know is how to stop longing for someone to teach her something, anything she doesn`t know how to do.
or how to stop longing for someone else to teach, right after she`s been taught.

or how to sleep at 3 AM when demons start to surface.
lucky for now she lives one hour in the past so she still has time to teach herself.

I think by now we`ve done so much
in my dreams and in my mind
that if we were to really touch
I would be seriously inclined
to dismiss the authentic you

and when he asked what she wanted to do now, she shrugged and said she didn`t know. that she shouldn`t even have to know. that it was her prerogative to follow a man`s lead and it should be his pleasure to tell her what to do. that it was deep rooted in human nature. and that it looked like he wasn`t even listening to a word she was saying.

and then he told her to shut up and kiss him.

‘..and therefore, cuddling is for girls’ he concludes as he turns off the light.

but then, a little later, when he`s sure she`s sound asleep, he slides next to her, curls himself around her body and buries his nose in her hair. and before morning takes him away, he kisses her head and his hand rests on hers for a bit as he whispers ‘have a nice day’.

she holds back a smile until she hears the door slam shut and moves over to his side of the bed. because it still smells like him.

mom always said to wash my neck all the way behind my ears.
mom always said to clean my hands all the way in between my fingers
mom always said to brush my teeth and tongue all the way to the back

but today I just sat defyingly in the shower, curled up like a stubborn child.

cause Idontwantto & youcantmakeme & Irefuseto wash his smell and touch and taste away.

he told her he was tired and had no time to make new connections.
